Fruit of Summer – Water Melon
Watermelon is refreshing juicy fruit with lots of nutrients that provides high amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for a low amount of calories
Many people think that it is made up of only water and sugar but each juicy bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. It also contains calcium, magnesium, fiber, protein, and a very large amount of potassium. Watermelon has a high lycopene level that is linked with heart health, bone health and prostate cancer prevention. It’s also a powerful antioxidant thought to have anti-inflammatory properties.
All parts of the watermelon are good. In general watermelons rich source of potassium and is very helpful in washing out the toxic depositions in the kidney, it is helpful in reducing the concentration of uric acid in the blood, thereby reducing the chances of kidney damage and the formation of renal calculi in that organ.
( Kidney diseases such as Nephritis(inflammation of calyces), Glomerulonephritis(inflammation of glomerulus and ducts) , and Nephrolithiasis (Renal stone) can have watermelon moderately but conditions like Diabetic nephropathy and Protenuria ( excretion of protein in urine) can take watermelon in small quantity but kidney disease such as Polycystic kidney disease (formation of cysts in kidney), chronic kidney disease (CKD), End stage kidney disease should not take due to high potassium and water content).
Added to this, being high in water content, it induces frequent urinating, which is again helpful for cleaning of the kidneys. Also, the anti oxidants present in watermelon ensure good health of the kidneys for a long time, and reduce signs of premature aging like wrinkles and age spotting on the skin. It brings down your blood pressure due to good amount of magnesium and potassium. Due to presence of Arginine (a type of important amino acid) in watermelon, it is also beneficial in curing erectile dysfunction and cardiac health. When buying a water melon, the more heavily it is, the more riper it is. So buy it accordingly.
Watermelon is a seasonal fruit; you can prepare many different items with this fruit when it is in a season. The best thing about watermelon is that though it has many healths benefits, it contributes by keeping you young, healthy and alive.
